Via Gizmodo, apparently now a fashion blog:

Based on my non-existent Chinese skills, I managed to understand that this inflatable bra makes boobs big, BIG, BIG. And I guess it comes with odd sound effects included? Can someone watch please this commercial and translate for me?

Alrighty then. The Miss California Pageant paid for Carrie’s boob job.

What a bunch of boobs.

Star Report: State pageant paid for Miss California’s implants.

In a shocking development, it’s being reported that some contestants in beauty pageants use certain artificial methods to enhance certain body parts. And no, we’re not talking about prescription-strength Aqua Net.

It turns out that Miss California Carrie Prejean, already controversial for revealing her anti-gay marriage views during the Miss USA competition recently (she came in second), felt like she needed a little second-story remodeling to present her very best side during the contest. So her friends at the Miss California Pageant helpfully paid for breast implants. Anything for a homie!

I never really understood why Chris Bangle was so reviled. His designs at BMW were really a step above any other car company.

Controversial BMW Designer Chris Bangle Quits.

Chris Bangle, who as head of design for BMW became one of the most famous — and reviled — auto designers in automotive history, has abruptly resigned after 16 years with the German automaker. Few will mourn his departure. Fewer still will deny his impact on auto design.

The 52-year-old American was so widely loathed by auto enthusiasts in general — and BMW fanatics in particular — for his styling tastes that he was the target of several online petitions demanding that BMW fire him. His worst critics cannot forgive him for his makeover of the 7-Series sedan, which featured a pronounced trunk that came to be known derisively as the “Bangle Butt.”

Clint Eastwood’s Seaweed Golf Shirt January 25, 2009

Here’s a fine example of how marketing goes bad. I don’t really want my shirt “hydrating and nourishing” my skin. But then, I’m not a big Hollywood star, so maybe that’s important for Clint to have his skin “hydrated and nourished” during a round of golf.

Course of Style: TaylorMade-adidas Golf is a powerhouse with Ashworth, and Clint Eastwood’s Tehama line covers you in seaweed.

The environmentally conscious golf company Tehama, founded by Clint Eastwood and Nancy Haley, is introducing golf clothes manufactured with seaweed that will “bring the benefits of the ocean to your skin.”

Seacell, as this fabric technology is called, is made from Lyocell (100-percent wood pulp) and seaweed, with a touch of silver that, the company says, adds to its anti-microbial (and therefore, anti-odor) properties. The fabric also contains various minerals and nutrients from the seaweed that are said to have a salutary effect on your healthy radiant self. Meantime, let’s hope it does not make you look like a character on the ghost ship in “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

Last year Tehama introduced garments that it said would infuse Vitamin C into one’s skin. This year’s Seacell fabric, when fashioned into a $68 golf shirt, “hydrates and nourishes” your skin, detoxifies and oxygenates, soothes skin rashes, and “promotes cell regeneration,” among other things, according to Tehama.

HOWTO make a tailfin retro media centre PC.

The retro media centre was Thomas Thomassen’s Final Major Project in BA (Hons) Modelmaking for Design and Media at the Arts Institute at Bournemouth — it’s an atompunk* tailfin fantasy that would look absolutely fantastic atop your giant console TV, serving as your home’s media hub. Thomassen’s documented the whole process from design to build — great tips if you want to try it on your own.

Steampunk Monitor

I think the circular frame does tie the square monitor into the overall circular theme (and yes dear reader it does look like a sprue tree doesn’t it?) the speaker ‘horns’ look positively alien – they remind me of the small creature in the cult movie ‘Phil the alien’ (kill me… kill me…).

Steampunk Monitor

I’ve always thought steampunk was a little weird, but, damn, this is cool.

Japanese Diaper Fashion Show September 25, 2008

Japan is a strange and fascinating place, but this is just a bit weird. USAToday reports Japan holds diaper fashion show for adults.

One after the other, the models strutted across the stage to bouncy ’80s dance tunes, all showing off designs of the same article of clothing — adult diapers.

Japan has one of the world’s most rapidly aging societies, and the fashion show Thursday proved the country’s diaper producers are intent on keeping the elderly clean and dry.

“Diapers are something that people don’t want to look at,” said Kiyoko Hamada of the Aging Lifestyle Research Center, a leading organizer of the show.

“But if you make them attractive, then people can learn about them more easily,” she said.
